Start with medium-sized commercial trucks

Hyundai has started production at its first assembly plant in South Africa, initially building medium-sized commercial trucks, reports Reuters, citing a company spokesperson. Deon Sonnekus, spokesperson for Hyundai Automotive South Africa, said the plant, located in the city of Benoni in Gauteng province, had been assembling trucks since July, ahead of the formal launch of production in September. The company also aims to assemble pick-up trucks at the plant from next year, according to Sonnekus
