Tata board clear the way for the first joint development project between the Indian automaker and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)
The board of Tata Motors is said to have given its approval to the a joint project with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to develop two new sport utility vehicles (SUVs) for the Indian automaker. An unnamed source from a leading Indian component supplier has told Mint that the vehicles are "part of a long product pipeline till 2020, an approval for which has been received from the Tata board." The person added that while the two companies have been exploring the possibility of sharing a platform for some time, such a project had not been viable because of cost and positioning problems. However, the person added, "Now they have managed to crack it."
