Volkswagen (VW) linked with new Thai production facility

VW tipped for new car production plans since Thai government announced start of the next phase of the country's eco-car scheme.

German automaker Volkswagen (VW) has been once again been hit with several media reports about possible new vehicle production plans in Thailand. Citing German publication Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, a Reuters report suggests that VW is expected to gain approval from the Thai Board of Investment (BOI) for investment in a planned new factory as early as next week. The report suggests that the production facility would be located near the port of Bangkok. When contacted by the news publication, the automaker confirmed having submitted the application, but refused to comment further.
