Scania, MAN to share transmissions
First significant step towards generating greater synergies between the two truck-makers which are heavily influenced by the ownership stakes in them by the Volkswagen (VW) Group.
Scania has announced at the IAA in Hannover (Germany) that it is to co-operate with MAN on transmissions. According to a statement, MAN will gradually introduce Scania's current transmission range into its vehicles from 2016. It added that the companies will co-operate on the development of future generations of this component, which it said would see a faster delivery of improved products to customers, as well as more efficient use of production- and research and development (R&D) resources.
