Mazda begins production of all-new Mazda2 in Thailand
IHS Automotive light-vehicle production forecasts expect Thai output of Mazda2 to stand at 27,000 units
Mazda announced it has begun production of its all-new Mazda2 subcompact at its Thai plant today (17 September). Commenting on the start of production, Masamichi Kogai, the automaker's president and chief executive, said: “It is a huge and challenging task to start production of a new model [latest-generation Mazda2] at three different plants around the world in such quick succession. We call Hofu Plant in Japan the 'mother plant', and we are committed to ensuring that vehicles produced in Thailand and Mexico for our customers around the world are built to the same high quality standards as those in Japan."
