As the Renault-Nissan alliance expects demand for its electric vehicles to continue to be weak, Nissan is considering its options on the sourcing of next-generation batteries.

Nissan is said to be considering its options on the development and sourcing of its next generation battery cells for electric vehicles (EVs) as demand for Renault-Nissan's products in this category has not met up to expectations. Sources have told Reuters that as well as continuing to work on the technology in house as it has been doing, Nissan is also considering the prospect of sourcing from South Korea's LG Chem as Renault has started doing for certain vehicles.
