Toyota recalls Tacoma in US; Corolla safety petition under review
Issue with the truck's rear suspension system
Toyota is recalling 2005–11 model-year (MY) Tacoma 4x4s and Tacoma pre-runner pick-ups over an issue with the truck's rear suspension system, according to an Automotive News report. Toyota said in a statement, "The involved vehicles' rear suspension system contains leaf springs that are constructed of either three or four leaves. There is a possibility that a leaf could fracture due to stress and corrosion." If used with a broken leaf, the leaf could come into contact with some surrounding components, including the fuel tank, and possibly cause a leak.
