Dongfeng to assemble models in Russia
Automaker is allegedly in discussion with Alabuga Motors of Tatarstan to begin assembly of semi knocked-down (SKD) kits from China.
Dongfeng may begin assembly of its models in Russia, according to Esmerk Russia News. The automaker is allegedly in discussion with Alabuga Motors of Tatarstan to begin assembly of semi knocked-down (SKD) kits from China. The plans highlight target start dates for two years with annual capacity to assemble 120,000–170,000 units per annum and investment of USD500 million. Meanwhile, the local Tatar Inform news service states that in late September Alabuga Motors received approval for assembly of Chinese vehicles with a launch date of January 2015 in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
