Mando develops new brake system to improve fuel efficiency
Currently in talks with both domestic as well as foreign automakers regarding supply of the system.
South Korean component supplier Mando today (17 October) revealed that it had developed an active retraction caliper (ARC) system aimed at improving the fuel economy of vehicles, reports Yonhap News Agency. The all-new ARC can quickly separate the brake pad from the brake disc when the driver lifts his or her foot from the brake pedal, which reduces friction as the car accelerates, causing almost zero loss of fuel due to the brakes.
