UK passenger car production dips in September, maintains YTD gains
Best year to date tally for the country in six years.
Vehicle production in the UK has fallen during September, according to the latest data published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). From a passenger car perspective, production has dipped by 2.8% year on year (y/y) to 137,068 units, further eroding the overall year to date (YTD) which now stands at 1,132,017 units, an increase of just 0.6% y/y. Commercial vehicle production in the UK has also fallen by 31.1% y/y to 4,818 units, which has further affected its performance during the YTD, which has fallen to 25.2% y/y to 50,746 units.
