Plant Closures & Downtime

The facility will manufacture its last vehicle on 12 December.

General Motors (GM) have begun the final preparations for shuttering its plant in Bochum, Germany, at the end of the year, according to an Automotive News Europe (ANE) report. It announced in 2013 that it would close the plant in order to combat excess capacity at its German production base. The facility, which manufactures the Zafira Classis and Zafira Tourer MPV, will manufacture its last vehicle on 12 December. Production of the Zafira Classic will cease altogether, while production of the Tourer has already been moved to Rüsselsheim.
