GM shares initial details of the next-generation Volt powertrain, alongside CEO Mary Barra's confirmation that Michigan will see production of new electric drives and USD300 million in capital investment..

Yesterday (28 October 2014), GM made several announcements regarding the future Voltec powertrain. Addressing the Detroit Economic Club, GM CEO Mary Barra announced an additional USD300-million investment before the end of the year. While the details of the investment were not included in her remarks, she did announce that production of the electric drive for the next-generation Voltec propulsion system will be at the Warren transmission plant in Michigan (United States); the previous system had been built in Mexico.
