Japanese vehicle output declines 2.6% y/y in September, exports decrease 3.3%

Japan's domestic vehicle production remained in negative territory during September for a third consecutive month owing to a slump in the domestic market.

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers' Association (JAMA) today (30 October) released its vehicle production and export data for September. According to the data, Japanese automakers produced a total of 851,051 vehicles at their domestic plants during the month, down 2.6% year on year (y/y). By vehicle type, passenger car output decreased 4.1% y/y during the month to 714,227 units, truck output increased 5.6% y/y to 123,661 units, and bus production surged 13.4% y/y to 13,163 units.
