Honda to begin production at new Thai plant in March 2016

IHS Automotive forecast production during 2016−20 to average 47,600 upa.

Honda is reportedly expected to begin vehicle production at its new plant in Thailand during March 2016, according to news publication Jiji Press. Citing unnamed sources close to the matter, the report says that Honda will begin producing automotive component parts starting October 2015. Capacity at its new Prachinburi plant, in the east of Thailand, is cited as 120,000 units per year, with production starting March 2016. The report said Honda continues to view Thailand as an important production hub and that it expects stable growth in the Thai automotive industry in the medium-to-long term. The new plant is likely to produce compact models including the City car, with vehicle exports remaining a major focus, according to the report.
