Part of a wider recall programme this month affecting 1.1 million VW models across China, North America, and Germany.

Volkswagen (VW) has been ordered to recall its Beetle cars in Australia because of potential issues in the event of a rear-end impact. According to a public notice issued late last week on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's website, the trailing arm of the rear torsion crank axle could break as a result of damage caused by an impact to the vehicle such as a rear-end collision, or an impact with the edge of a curb. The recall affects around 967 Beetle cars manufactured between 2011 and 2013 with a campaign code of 42G7.
