GM to roll out in-car Android in 2016, axes fleet-only Captiva Sport
IHS does not expect the company to consolidate all vehicles onto a single operating system.
General Motors (GM) is said to be looking to Android for in-car technology, beginning in late 2016, according to an Automotive News report. The report cites Harman as confirming that it won a USD900-million contract from GM in 2012 to supply a next-generation infotainment system, which will launch in vehicles in late 2016 and will be based on the Google Android operating system.
