Key to strategy is increasing localisation levels as much as possible.

Mercedes-Benz is planning to expand and improve its global procurement network in order to maximise efficiencies, improve quality and move towards the cost-cutting goals of the firm's of the firm's 2020 growth strategy. According to a company statement, key to the firm's strategy is increasing localisation levels as much as possible, a strategy evidenced by the fact that the company is localising production of the C-Class at each of its four production locations on four different continents. The production network consists of the German lead plant in Bremen, the South African plant in East London, the US plant in Tuscaloosa/Alabama and the Chinese production location BBAC in Beijing.
