Feds to force expanded Takata airbag recall in US, Takata hires PR agency
Root cause of flawed airbags not yet found
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is continuing to push for an expanded recall of the potentially flawed Takata airbags beyond the current humid-weather states, and has announced it is building a case to compel Takata, Ford, Chrysler, and BMW to expand recalls, “if they force us to go all the way into court,” NHTSA deputy chief David Friedman told reporters about the administration’s plans at a media event yesterday (16 December), according to The Detroit News.
