akata has started to tighten quality controls on a group of parts suppliers as the auto safety equipment manufacturer boosts production to replace millions of airbags, reports Reuters. Over the last two months, Takata has launched a series of urgent inspections across its supply networks and has become increasingly strict with quality issues, according to the report. Separately, Mazda announced that it would widen its recall by 52,000 cars in Japan to investigate Takata airbags fitted in its cars, reports Reuters. The automaker said its latest "investigative" recall would cover Atenza mid-sized cars and RX-8 sports cars manufactured between 2004 and 2008 that are equipped with Takata driver's side airbags.
