Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) Melfi site to take on around 1,500 additional staff
IHS Automotive expects that production at the site will reach 280,500 units during 2015
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has announced that it will take on further staff at its Melfi (Italy) site to meet demand for the Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade. According to a statement, more than 1,000 workers on temporary contracts are expected to be employed during the next three months. However, it added that once demand for these vehicles has stabilised, these staff could be offered a new form of contract under Italian law, currently undergoing legislative approval, that would offer increasing security over time. An additional 350 workers will also be transferred temporarily from sites at Cassino (Italy) and Pomigliano d'Arco (Italy) to enable full plant utilisation to be achieved.
