Toyota North America produces nearly 2 mil. vehicles in 2014

Toyota North America (including the Lexus brand) recorded a total production of 1,985,501 units in 2014, up 7% compared to the previous year, reported a company press release. In addition, the company also built 1,909,848 engines last year with an 11% increase compared to 2013. Toyota's production growth was driven mainly by the strong demand of the redesigned Camry, Corolla, Highlander, and RAV4. Production was led by the Camry – Toyota's flagship product – which registered an increase of 2.1% y/y to 446,906 units. Full-year production of the Corolla reached 431,779 units in 2014, up 21.8% year on year (y/y). Production of the Highlander, including its hybrid version, was up 35.5% at 182,477 units. Production for the RAV4 range, including the RAV4 electric vehicle (EV), reached 227,788 units, up 7.7% y/y during 2014. The production tally for pickup truck Tacoma also moved up 4.2% y/y to 177,195 units last year.
