Honda CEO to push for supplier reforms despite criticism
Honda's well-established, close-knit supply chain is being overlooked in pursuit of lower costs and cutting-edge technologies.
A Reuters report says that Honda CEO Takanobu Ito will continue to push ahead with efforts to change the way the automaker sources components. Ito's attempts to do this in recent years have come in for criticism as Honda's well-established, close-knit supply chain is being overlooked in pursuit of lower costs and cutting-edge technologies. "Since the start of this year, we've been operating on the assumption that Ito will continue as chief executive," the report cites a Honda divisional head as saying. The report adds that some former executives "maneuvered to have Ito removed", but Ito has made it clear that he will try to seek another two-year extension to his tenure.
