Looking to align production with regional demand.

Ford has announced the laying off of 420 employees at its Sao Bernardo do Campo plant in Brazil, beginning yesterday (23 February), report local media sources. Ford is looking to align production with regional demand, in a market with falling sales. The reports also indicate that Brazil's vehicle sales are expected to decline by about 25% in February. Production of the Ford Fiesta will be slowed from 55 units per hour to 44 units per hour and truck production from 17 units per hour to 14 units per hour.
