Thanks to substantial R&D investments across industries, applications of aluminium and carbon fibre in automotive have been expanding in recent months
Cadillac is set to use aluminium as a key material in its upcoming CT6 sedan, with high-strength aluminium utilised for the safety cage surrounding the occupants. The structural portion of the B-pillar is made up of high-strength steel, which helps to improve visibility in addition to offering mass savings and lowering cabin noise. A high-strength aluminium impact bar is used at the rear of the vehicle, and a combination of high-strength aluminium and steel is used for front and side impact zones to increase passenger safety in the event of collisions.
