VW recall concerns faulty fuel pumps while GM has faultt tailgate strut.

Volkswagen (VW) and General Motors (GM) have issued new recalls in China. FAW-VW – VW's passenger vehicle joint venture with FAW Group will recall 5,861 cars over faulty fuel pumps that might cause the inability to start, leading to flameout in certain cases. The recall, starting 8 July, includes the Golf, the Audi A3, and the Golf A7 models. A statement by China's quality watchdog, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), said the recall involves eight imported Golf variants produced in June 2014; 512 units of the imported Audi A3 40 TFSI, made between December 2013 and March 2014; 4,377 units of the Golf A7 1.4T, manufactured between April and June 2014; and the 972 Audi A3 35TFSI, made between April and July 2014. In a separate development, the AQSIQ said GM will recall 650 units of the Opel Insignia sedan which were imported between June and July 2013. The recall will fix a defective tailgate strut that might fail suddenly. The recall will start on 8 July.
