NHTSA moves up V2V communications rules proposal release
Mandate is not likely to take effect for several more years.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has indicated it will issue its proposed vehicle-to-vehicle communications (V2V) mandate by end 2015, instead of end 2016 as initially planned, according to an Automotive News report. US Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said that the Transportation Department will also craft a plan to test whether the airwaves used by connected cars can be safely shared with other wireless devices.
