May build Defender replacement there

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is considering investing in a new factory in Eastern Europe, reports the Financial Times. Sources told the newspaper that the shortlist of countries in the region includes Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Hungary. One source said that "[JLR is] just seeing who's going to offer [it] the best deal [in incentives]." Another source familiar with the matter stated that "cheap labour" was behind the move, noting, "There's no geographical reason behind it. People in Poland and Hungary don't buy Jaguar Land Rover cars." Any chosen site would build models on the company's new aluminium architecture and the replacement for the Land Rover Defender would be the lead candidate to be built at the site, reports Autocar.
