Honda issues recalls in Japan at the request of Takata

Honda has expanded its airbag inflator recall by another 340,000 vehicles in Japan, reports Dow Jones. The latest move includes 260,000 vehicles in a fresh recall, while 80,000 units of earlier-recalled vehicles are also subject to the latest recall. Honda said it had issued the recalls in Japan at the request of Takata, the supplier of the airbags in the affected vehicles. The automaker said it would replace the inflators in all the vehicles, without providing more details. Although the latest recall covers vehicles in Japan only, Honda said it would also expand its recalls in the United States.
