Mazda adds 1.6 million vehicles to recall list over defective Takata airbag inflators

Related to an agreement between NHTSA and Takata to expand previous recalls.

Japanese automaker Mazda yesterday announced that it is recalling about 1.6 million vehicles globally over defective Takata airbag inflators installed in its vehicles, reports news publication Agence France-Presse. This recall includes 465,000 vehicles in the United States and 76,000 units in Japan for its 2003–08 line-up. Mazda's expanded US recall covers the 2003–08 Mazda6, 2004–08 RX-8, 2006–07 Mazdaspeed6, and 2004–06 Mazda B-series.
