Number of vehicles impacted by Takata recall may be overstated – report
Reason for potential discrepancy is that recall includes both driver and passenger-side airbags
Business news agency Reuters reports that its analysis of defect notices suggests that the number of vehicles impacted by the Takata air-bag inflator recalls may be closer to 16.2 million than the 34 million that the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has indicated may be affected.
