Mercedes announces new safety features for next-generation E-Class
Upcoming E-Class is set to bring to market several promising advanced driver assist systems
Mercedes-Benz is planning a new suite of advanced safety and semi-autonomous features for the upcoming redesigned E-Class, according to Automotive News, which reports that Mercedes provided media with an overview of the new technologies. Mercedes is calling the new system Intelligent Drive next Level. Among the promised features are systems to protect occupants' ears and hearing during a crash; steering assistance to avoid an accident or obstacle; safety system that pushes the driver and front-seat passenger away from the doors during a side impact. The company said it is also introducing a smartphone key and the ability to park the E-Class in parallel and perpendicular spaces using a smartphone.
