Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems has announced that its new headquarters will be located in Avon, Ohio, United States, in a company statement. Bendix has agreed to buy a 60-acre site about 10 miles north of its current location. "We are pleased to select Avon as the community for our future and excited about this next chapter in our history," said Joe McAleese, Bendix chairman. "Our new location allows Bendix to continue drawing from the skilled workforce in northeast Ohio that has contributed so importantly to our success. And the site in Avon will not only allow us to remain in Lorain County, but will accommodate the expanded, updated facility required to maintain – and accelerate – the rapid growth we've experienced, particularly over the past dozen years. We remain deeply grateful to Elyria for the support it has shown us over our many decades as a part of the community."
Significance: In March, Bendix announced plans to move its headquarters away from Elyria, with today's statement only adding details about the city location. The date of the groundbreaking is not set, so Bendix has not commented on a date for moving its staff.
