Audi Hungária has announced that it has manufactured 1,067,525 powertrains in the first half of 2015 at its main Gyõr production facility, according to an MTI news agency report citing data released by Audi Hungária Motor. The figure is almost identical to the figure that Volkswagen's (VW) premium brand recorded last year at its main powertrain facility. The breakdown of powertrains manufactured in the first half included the 816,965 four- and five-cylinder gasoline (petrol) and diesel engines, 227,952 six-cylinder and 22,608 eight- and ten-cylinder engines, which were delivered to more than 30 VW Group production sites all over the world. In addition the plant manufactured 84,888 passenger cars in the first half, which was 27% y/y increase. Among this tally were 45,578 A3 Saloons, 12,253 A3 Cabriolets, 14,353 Audi TT Coupes and 4,582 TT Roadsters.
Significance: The Gyõr facility is hugely strategically important to the VW Group as the company's main global powertrain manufacturing plant, while in 2013 it made the transition to a full car manufacturing facility for the A3 sedan after previously being the assembly location for the TT and its variants. Audi Hungáriaʼs revenue climbed 12%, reaching EUR4.147 billion, with CAPEX coming to EUR235 million in the first half. The unit employed 11,342 people at the end of June, approximately 5% more than 12 months earlier.
