LG Chem signs new EV battery deal with China's Changan Automobile
Planning mass production of batteries by early 2016 at a new production line at its Nanjing plant, China
South Korean electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturer LG Chem has signed a new deal with Chinese automaker Changan Automobile Company Limited, reports Yonhap English news agency. According to a company statement, LG Chem is planning to begin the supply of EV batteries for Changan Auto's next-generation plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). The company is planning to begin mass production of batteries by early 2016 at a new production line at its Nanjing plant, China, which is expected to have annual production capacity of 100,000 units. Neither company has revealed any further details, such as the value of the deal or the number of batteries to be supplied.
