Hyundai India to hike production of all-new Creta by 16.7% per month

Will produce about 7,000 units per month at its Indian plant, up from a previous objective of 6,000.

Hyundai Motor India is planning to increase production of its recently launched Creta sport utility vehicle (SUV) by as much as 16.7% per month, reports the Business Standard. As part of the new plan, Hyundai will produce about 7,000 units per month at its Indian plant, up from a previous objective of 6,000. Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice-president at Hyundai India's sales and marketing division, said, "When we launched the Creta, we were planning for about 6,000 units a month from July to December but, considering the response, we have decided to increase by another 1,000 units from September by working together with our suppliers."
 

Significance: Hyundai's Creta was launched late last month.The model has met with initial success. A senior executive said it has sold out until December with pre-order booking now totalling 40,000 units.
