EPA has denied certification for any 2016 model-year vehicles equipped with the engines

The US Environmental Protection has issued a Notice of Violation (NOV) to Volkswagen, while the California Air Resources Board is separately issuing an In-Use Compliance letter regarding allegations that VW installed software to get around EPA testing for air pollutants, a “defeat device,” according to a statement from the EPA.
