Toyota to add RAV4 production at Canadian plant
Assembly will in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada will start beginning in 2019
Toyota has announced that it will add production of the RAV4 at its assembly plant in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, beginning in 2019, including the hybrid variant. The sport utility vehicle (SUV) will also continue to be produced at Toyota's plant in Woodstock, Ontario, and in Japan. In a company statement, Toyota Motor North America CEO Jim Lentz said, "RAV4 is a leader in the fastest-growing segment of the North American auto industry. We forecast that the segment will continue to demonstrate strong growth, with the RAV4 being a major player." The Cambridge North Plant will receive "significant" new investment, including the introduction of Toyota's New Global Architecture to the facility, which includes a new integrated approach to developing vehicles and new production equipment and processes, the company said.
