To provide body-in-white technology as well as assembly and test systems for Chinese-based OEMs.
German automotive parts supplier ThyssenKrupp System Engineering has opened a new plant in Shanghai, China, on 11 November, according to the company. The new 12,000-square-metre plant in Chuansha replaces a facility in Pudong, Shanghai. In addition to body-in-white technology, the Chuansha site will also produce assembly and test systems for Chinese-based OEMs. Jens Michael Wegmann, CEO and chairman of the management board of the industrial solutions business area of ThyssenKrupp, said, "This investment in the future is a central component of our global growth strategy and an important step towards expanding our presence in China. The new site allows us to extend our local product portfolio in China and further strengthen our relationships with customers based in the country. Going forward we will be collaborating more strongly with Chinese suppliers."
