UAW continues talks with General Motors (GM) over US labour contract
New deadline set for 20 November
The United Auto Workers (UAW) union issued a statement on 13 November that negotiations are continuing with General Motors (GM) on the proposed labour contract in the United States, based on feedback from meetings with the skilled-trades members. The majority of workers ratified the proposed contract (by 55.4% to 44.6%), though the skilled-trades members rejected the deal. The skilled-trades members' rejection prompted meetings with UAW members at each GM worksite to determine the issues behind their rejection of the agreement, according to the union.
