Iran Khodro (IKCO) in talks with Daimler over engine production
Daimler and the Iran Khodro diesel unit have begun negotiations over a "widespread cooperation"
Daimler and Iran Khodro are in talks to build diesel powertrains in Iran after sanctions that prevented European original equipment manufacturers doing business in the country. Iran Khodro has previously has cooperation agreements with Daimler, and the Iran Khodro diesel unit has begun negotiations over a "widespread cooperation" according to a Trend News Agency report. Earlier, the CEO of Iran Khodro Hashem Yekeh Zareh had said that the German company would purchase 30% of Iranian Diesel Engine Manufacturing's shares to produce automobiles in the city of Tabriz, adding that Mercedes-Benz would sign a 10-year agreement to produce trucks and autobuses in Iran.
