India's ARAI expands diesel emission investigation
Data collection no longer constrained to VW Group vehicles
The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has expanded its investigation into diesel engine emissions, reports the Financial Express financial daily. The regulator has so far been looking into variations between test laboratory and on-road nitrogen oxide emissions for Volkswagen (VW)-brand vehicles. "Initially, we were asked to investigate the diesel vehicles of Volkswagen by the ministry of heavy industry. Further, for relevant data collection purpose, we are also doing some additional measurements from passenger car models of other companies," ARAI director Rashmi Urdhwareshe told the publication, adding that test results would be submitted to the Ministry of Heavy Industry.
