VW has offered the KBA an update on its technical solution for about 540,000 VW Group cars in Germany with the affected 1.6-litre powertrain.

The Volkswagen (VW) Group has delivered an update on its fix for the 1.6 litre variants of the EA189 diesel powertrain fitted with the "defeat device" that allows the engine to give an artificially low nitrogen oxide emissions reading when on a test cycle. According to a spokesman for the country's Federal Motor Transportation Authority (KBA) VW has offered the authority an update on its technical solution for about 540,000 VW Group cars in Germany with the affected 1.6-litre powertrain.
