Measures approved by the European Union's Technical Committee for Motor Vehicles yesterday (28 October).

The European Commission has eased the pressure on the amount of leeway that automakers will be given in meeting the new Real Driving Emissions (RDE) test cycle when it is introduced during 2017, reports Bloomberg News. Elzbieta Bienkowska, the region's Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) has agreed to allow an overshoot of up to 110% under the test between September 2017 and January 2020. She has also agreed to allow a permanent 50% overshoot beyond the 80 mg/km NOx recorded under test bed conditions beyond this point. These measures were approved by the European Union's (EU) Technical Committee for Motor Vehicles (TCMV) at a vote which took place yesterday (28 October).
