Safety components supplier Autoliv has announced that it has appointed a new chief financial officer (CFO). According to a statement, Mats Backman will replace Mats Wallin as group vice-president and CFO. Backman will join Autoliv from Sandvik Group during the first half of 2016. Wallin will leave his position to pursue other opportunities based on a mutual agreement with Autoliv, although he will remain in his current position until his successor joins the company.
Significance: Backman has been at Sandvik since 2007 and was appointed to the CFO position in 2013. Autoliv has said that he will lead the company's financial strategy in the next growth and transition phase.
