Mazda Motor Company is recalling 3,229 units of the CX-5 sport utility vehicle (SUV) in China, reports Gasgoo Automotive News. The recall by Mazda is reportedly due to a defective steering wheel that might scratch the fingers of drivers and also lead to accidents. The owners of the affected vehicle could visit Mazda's dealers at their nearest location for a maintenance service, while the dealers will also contact customers on behalf of Mazda, according to the report.
Significance: Mazda's other recent recalls in China include 11,107 vehicles earlier this month over an issue with the ignition switch, and 280,000 Mazda 6 cars in September over an issue with the gas generator in the airbag. The Japanese automaker also recently refreshed its CX-5 compact crossover . Vehicle recalls are steadily increasing in China as a result of intense scrutiny by the General Administration of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).
