Move to reduce parts-shipping costs and increase efficiency and product quality.

Toyota Motor plans to restructure its commercial vehicle (CV) production in Japan, according to a report by Nikkei Asian Review. The automaker plans to move production of the Coaster minibus from subsidiary Toyota Auto Body's Yoshiwara factory in Aichi Prefecture to a plant in Gifu Prefecture, which currently handles the Hiace van and bus line. Toyota plans to produce around 10,000 Coasters a year at Gifu plant from 2017. The Yoshiwara factory will continue to produce Land Cruiser sport utility vehicles (SUVs), taking over a portion of production from Toyota Motor's Tahara plant in the same prefecture.
