Likely to assemble cars in Vietnam in the medium term

Renault is planning to assemble vehicles in Vietnam by setting up a plant in the country, according to a report by the Vietnam Investment Review. Renault is likely to assemble cars in Vietnam in the medium term and will also open new dealerships and offer greater after-sale service coverage. The report quotes Xavier Coiffard, general-director of France's Auto Motors Vietnam, the exclusive importer of Renault cars in the country, as saying, "Vietnam is an important step in our expansion, as it has huge market potential due to its fast growing automotive sector. We want to be a leading European brand in Vietnam."
