Change scheduled for early 2017.

Volvo Cars is planning to shift production for its V60 estate from its Torslanda (Sweden) site to its factory in Ghent (Belgium) in early 2017, reports Automotive News Europe. Spokesman for Volvo Car Ghent, Mark De Mey, said, "Management in Sweden asked for a solution for the V60, and we put our hand up." He added that the company will leverage an existing ferry link between Gothenburg and Ghent to ship panel pressing from Sweden. De Mey also noted that the move would be a "good opportunity" to gain experience in the production of plug-in hybrids and, "we will also be handling the storage of the batteries."
