Toyota resumes production at domestic assembly plants after week-long suspension
Overseas production lines of the automaker were not affected.
Toyota today (15 February) declared that it has resumed production at its domestic assembly plants in Japan following a week-long stoppage owing to supply disruption. Toyota halted all assembly lines in Japan from 8 February to 13 February because of an explosion at a steel plant operated by Aichi Steel, Toyota's affiliate. Meanwhile, overseas production lines of the automaker were not affected. As part of the measures adopted by Toyota to minimise the effect of the incident on its vehicle production, the automaker procured steel from other steelmakers.
