DOE offers USD12.5 million to increase efficiency of medium-, heavy-duty trucks

Consortium to be funded by DOE’s Vehicle Technologies Program, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a grant notice of USD12.5 million for the formation of a consortium to pursue five identified research and development topics for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, according to Grants.gov. The consortium will form a new technical track under the US-China Clean Energy Research Center (CERC). The topics for research are advanced internal combustion engine powertrain system, energy management system level efficiency improvements, hybrid electric powertrain, other key truck technologies and vehicle testing.
